Owned Channel Performance
Earned social is what others say about you. Owned social is what you say yourself, and it is the one part of the conversation you control. Owned Channel Performance reads your own accounts honestly: what is working, what is not, and what your content reveals about your relationship with your audience.
What it does
This template analyses your brand's own social accounts: their content output, audience engagement, follower growth, and the gap between what you post most and what audiences actually engage with. The strategic question is how your content is performing across your owned channels and what that picture says about your direct relationship with your audience.
Because the metrics, the responsibility and the interpretation for owned social differ from earned social, the template draws account data directly from the platforms and sets it alongside the broader engagement context in your workspace. The aim is not a vanity scoreboard but a clear, actionable read on what to do more of and less of.
The questions it answers
- Which of our owned channels is strongest, and which is weakest?
- Is our follower base growing or stalling, and at what rate on each platform?
- Which formats and themes are working on each platform, and where are we over-posting in a low-fit channel?
- Which individual posts performed best and worst, and why?
- Is the sentiment in audience comments aligned with the tone of our posts, or pulling against it?
What's in the report
The report opens with an at-a-glance read on your owned channels, then works through performance, content and audience. Every period is benchmarked against the equivalent stretch before it, and findings are cited back to the source content.
- A per-account scoreboard covering posts, followers, follower growth, total and average engagement, change versus the prior period, and the top post of the period, with native engagement types shown per platform.
- A cross-platform performance chart plotting posts against engagement to expose platform mismatch, such as high effort with low return.
- Top and bottom performing posts, each with a plain-language read on why it likely worked or missed, because failure patterns are easier to correct than success patterns.
- Content format and theme analysis showing what resonates where, and the gap between what you post and what audiences reward.
- Posting cadence against engagement, follower-growth trajectories, and engagement-quality signals such as comment-to-like and share-to-like ratios.
- Comment sentiment, negative comment clusters that may point to customer-service or product issues, hashtag performance, and owned content that earned organic spread beyond your followers.
- An editorial verdict on which channels and content types are working and what the social team should change.
Who it's for
Social media managers and content teams who own the brand's accounts and need an honest read on performance. Communications leads reporting channel results upward. Brand and marketing managers deciding where to invest effort, and corporate-affairs teams who need to show executives or the board how the owned presence is actually performing.
Why Truescope Analyst
The usual way to assess owned channels is to open each platform's native analytics, export figures that are formatted differently everywhere, and reconcile them by hand into a monthly deck. It is laborious, the cross-platform comparison is rough, and the "why did this post work" question is left to gut feel. A general AI tool offers no shortcut, because it cannot reach your account data and has no benchmark to compare against.
Truescope Analyst pulls your owned-account performance together, sets it against the broader engagement context, and benchmarks every figure against the prior period, then explains the likely reasons behind your strongest and weakest posts. It runs in minutes rather than over a day, every finding is traceable to source content, and it is built into your subscription so the whole team can see the same picture.
Frequently asked questions
What do I need to provide to run it?
You need to supply the brand's owned account handles for the platforms you want analysed, across Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube. Accurate handles are essential, as the analysis is scoped to the accounts you name.
What time range does it cover?
It covers up to the last 13 months for coverage already in your Truescope inbox, or the last 90 days for global data not yet matched to your workspace, with each period benchmarked against the equivalent stretch immediately before it. The reporting interval scales with the range, from hourly for short windows to weekly for longer ones.
Can it tell me whether engagement turned into business results?
No. The report describes engagement, reach and audience response in detail, but it cannot directly measure whether that engagement moved favourability, consideration or conversion. Some content may also be affected by platform algorithms independently of its quality, which the report notes.
