Analyst Commentary Tracking

Know what the analysts covering you are actually saying. This report tracks the named equity and credit analysts behind your coverage, their ratings, price targets, estimate revisions, and conviction direction, and tells you what it signals about institutional positioning.

What it does

Analysts are a small, named, identifiable group of voices with outsized influence on institutional decisions. Their commentary follows its own conventions, built around ratings, price targets, and estimate revisions, which means it deserves to be tracked at the level of the individual analyst rather than blended into a general sentiment score. This report either follows a list of analysts you supply, or runs a discovery pass to surface the most prominent analysts covering you during the period. It then characterises each one and maps the structure of opinion across the whole group.

The questions it answers

- Who are the analysts covering us, and what is each one saying?
- What is the consensus direction, and how confident are analysts in their positions?
- What rating changes, initiations, or price target revisions have surfaced during the period?
- Which analysts sit with the consensus, and which are clear outliers, and why?
- What concerns and opportunities are analysts raising, from margin pressure and execution risk to market share and capital allocation?

What's in the report

The report leads with an analyst commentary summary, then builds the detail beneath it. It covers the landscape, the individual voices, the specific rating actions, and how opinion is structured. Findings are cited back to the source coverage they appear in.

- An analyst landscape overview counting the analysts whose commentary appeared, split by firm category across bulge bracket, mid-tier, boutique, and independent research, with the overall sentiment distribution.
- A per-analyst characterisation table covering firm, coverage frequency, rating direction, price target, conviction language, themes emphasised, and recent rating actions.
- Rating change coverage and estimate revision coverage, each tied to the analyst, firm, date, direction, and magnitude, with rationale as characterised in coverage.
- Conviction language patterns showing how confident analysts are, plus opinion clustering into consensus longs, consensus sceptics, divided, or evolving, and a table of outlier analysts.
- Concern and opportunity themes, sector and peer comparison commentary, quote-driven coverage, analyst access events, and the sell-side versus buy-side picture.
- A chart of analyst sentiment trajectory across the period, ESG analyst commentary, per-segment views where supplied, forward analyst event signals, and a closing verdict.

Who it's for

This is for investor relations professionals who manage analyst relationships and brief leadership ahead of results, capital markets days, and roadshows. It helps an IR director prepare the CFO for the analysts most likely to push back, and gives the board a clear, named view of where sell-side conviction sits.

Why Truescope Analyst

The manual version of this is an IR team maintaining a spreadsheet of analysts, hand-logging every note and rating change, and trying to keep it current as commentary lands. It is slow, it goes stale quickly, and it rarely captures the full picture. Paste a single note into a general AI tool and it can summarise that one note, but it has no sight of the wider body of coverage where the consensus actually forms, and it cannot tell an outlier from the crowd. Truescope Analyst reasons across your full media dataset, profiles each named analyst, clusters opinion, flags the outliers, and charts how sentiment is moving, with every observation traceable to source coverage. It runs in minutes, repeats whenever you need a fresh read, and is built into your subscription for anyone on the team.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to supply the list of analysts?
No. You can supply named analysts to track explicitly, or ask for a discovery pass that identifies the most prominent analysts covering the company from coverage during the period. Either way the report characterises each analyst individually.

What period does the sentiment trajectory cover?
The analysis can draw on up to the last 13 months for coverage already in your Truescope inbox, or the last 90 days for global data not yet matched to your workspace. The trajectory chart plots how analyst sentiment has moved across the chosen window.

Does it see private research notes?
No. The tracking depends on analyst views being picked up in media coverage, so private research notes are not visible. It also captures sell-side commentary more fully than buy-side views, which are mostly private, and it is an observation rather than investment advice.
