Geographic Coverage Analysis

Geographic Coverage Analysis

Understand how coverage varies by location

Shows how your coverage varies from country to country: where it is concentrated, how good the coverage is in each market, how the geographic mix is shifting, and what the story looks like on the ground.

What it does

This template maps your brand's coverage across the world. It answers five questions in one pass: where coverage is distributed, how strong the coverage is in each market, how the geographic mix is changing over time, which markets deserve strategic attention, and what the actual story looks like country by country. You can point it at specific target markets, anywhere from one to ten, or ask for the full global picture and let it surface your top markets automatically. Either way, the countries you name are guaranteed to appear in the detailed sections, even if their volume is low.

The questions it answers

- Which countries are driving our coverage, and how concentrated is it in the top few?
- Is the coverage in each market coming from authoritative outlets or a long tail of low-reach sources?
- How is our geographic mix shifting across the period, and which markets are rising or falling?
- Where does sentiment in a country diverge sharply from our global picture?
- Are any of our target markets showing as white space, with little or no coverage?

What's in the report

The report opens with the geographic distribution: headline figures for total volume, audience, sentiment and the number of countries with coverage, a concentration read on how much sits in your top three markets, and a ranked table of countries with their volume, share, reach, sentiment and movement.

It then builds out:

- A coverage quality view by geography, showing each market's source-category mix and plotting volume against audience-per-item, so you can see which countries combine scale with authoritative outlets and which carry a long tail of low-reach coverage.
- A geographic trajectory, charting volume by country over time and identifying which markets are growing, declining or holding steady across the period.
- A movers, divergence and white space section, surfacing the biggest volume shifts, the countries whose sentiment diverges most from your global average, and any target markets sitting empty.
- A country deep dive for your most significant markets: regional and city breakdowns, media-type and source-category mix, the distinctive themes local to that market, the top sources and journalists, and the top stories, with smaller markets shown in a condensed format.

A theme is flagged as distinctive to a country when it does not appear in your global picture, which is where the locally specific narratives show up. Movement is benchmarked against the immediately preceding period, journalist lists are cleaned of wire and generic bylines, and every story is cited back to the source coverage.

Who it's for

This is for communications and PR teams managing a presence across multiple countries, global brand and corporate affairs leaders who need to see beyond a single home market, and government, trade and investor-relations teams tracking how a story travels internationally. It suits anyone who needs to know not just how much coverage they have, but where it is and what it says in each place.

Why Truescope Analyst

Building a fair country-by-country picture by hand means running separate searches per market, normalising sentiment across languages and outlet types, working out which themes are genuinely local rather than global spill-over, and keeping it all consistent enough to compare, which is slow and easy to get wrong. A general AI tool cannot break coverage down by country, weigh source authority per market, or distinguish a locally distinctive theme from your worldwide narrative, and it cannot cite any of it. Truescope Analyst reasons across your full media dataset, ranks and characterises every market on a consistent basis, flags the distinctive local themes, and grounds each market's story in cited coverage. It runs in minutes, it is included in your subscription, and anyone on the team can rerun it as the geographic picture moves.

Frequently asked questions

Can I focus on specific countries, or do I have to look at everything?
Both. You can name between one and ten target markets, which are then guaranteed to appear in every per-country section regardless of how much coverage they have, or you can choose the global view and let the analysis surface your highest-volume markets automatically. The white space section only applies when you have named target markets, so it can tell you which of them are sitting empty.

How does it decide a theme is specific to one country?
It compares each country's leading themes against your global picture. A theme that shows up strongly in a market but does not appear in your worldwide top themes is marked as distinctive to that country, which is usually where the locally specific narrative, and the most strategically interesting detail, lives.

What time range can it cover?
Up to the last 13 months for coverage already in your Truescope inbox, or the last 90 days for global data not yet matched to your workspace. The trend interval adjusts to the window you choose, and each window is benchmarked against the equivalent period immediately before it.
